"The Social Network of Internet of Things (SNIoT)"

Welcome to SNIoT. This project is the thesis submission at Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology. SNIoT is an architecture to create an intelligent network of smart machines/devices capable of acting together to make decisions with or without human interaction.



Abstract

With a market potential of over 25bn connected devices, Internet of Things (IoT) is evolving. In our thesis, we propose an architecture (SNIoT) to create an intelligent network of smart machines/devices capable of acting together to make decisions with or without human interaction. The aspect of networking in IoT which concerns with the daily practices of people is powerful and unexploited in this industry. The earlier architectures in this area and the limitations associated with them are studied. The appropriate policies for the establishment and management of social relationships between objects are identified. Furthermore, the application of machine learning concepts in the context of the proposed architecture to create a self-learning intelligent network of devices capable of automation is explored. Finally, a proof-of-concept is demonstrated and the potential applications of the architecture in real-world situations are discussed.

The proof-of-concept of the architecture is shown in the form of a prototype application. The application demonstrates the use of the architecture for the potential increase in the efficiency of energy usage in data-centers.


The prototype is demonstrated using a visual tool for creating and deploying "The Social Network of Internet of Things" hosted on cloud.
